Q. What are the closest airports to Chattanooga?

A. The Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) has flights from major US cities and is 6.5 miles from the convention center by car.

Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International airport (ATL) is 127 miles from the convention center and the Nashville International airport (BNA) is 132 miles away.

Q. Is there transportation from the international airports to the convention?

A. Groome Transportation (groometransportation.com) offers regularly scheduled shuttle buses to and from the Atlanta and Nashville international airports.  Groome departures and arrivals are in East Ridge, Tennessee, about 8 miles from the Convention Center.  You will need to arrange for a rental car, Uber, Lyft or taxi service from Groome as there is no shuttle service from Groome to downtown Chattanooga.

Q. How many clinic rooms are there, where are they and how large are they?

A. All the clinic rooms are on one floor in the convention center. There are six rooms designated for clinics and each is 1800 sq feet and have high ceilings.

Q. Will there be door prizes?

A. Prizes are being sought from a variety of vendors, manufacturers and local merchants. Each attendee will keep half of a two-part ticket which will be used in the drawings. Attendees may designate which drawing they are interested in such as HO, N, or other scale or by vendor.

Q. I hear there will be a special model contest specific to Chattanooga.

A. You heard correctly. One of the iconic features of Chattanooga is Rock City. Over the years Rock City has painted its name on barns throughout the South and beyond. There will be a special Rock City barn contest. There will also be the judged contest and People’s Choice Award contests.

Q. Will the Operations Road Show be at the Chattanooga convention.

A. Operations Road Show will be at the convention and there will be other area layouts running Operating sessions.

Q. Are there activities scheduled for non-railroaders/spouses, etc.?

A. Chattanooga boasts world-famous attractions, many within walking distance of the convention center or are accessible by the free Carta electric shuttle. A committee has developed a list of interesting/fun things to do and a room will be set up for information and activities.
